From 9 to 13 June 2025, the delegation of the Shipping Administration was on a study visit to Genoa, Italian Republic, together with representatives of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, the State Enterprise “Classification Society Ukrainian Register of Shipping”, the State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine and the State Enterprise “Maritime Search and Rescue Service”. This visit was held as part of the EU technical assistance Twinning project “Institutional Support to the State Service for Maritime, Inland Waterway Transport and Shipping of Ukraine in the Implementation of the EU Acquis, Norms and Standards on Maritime Safety”.
📌 Activities took place at the Training Centre “A. De Rubertis” of the Italian Coast Guard.
The goal is to improve the efficiency of the Ukrainian maritime transport system and the fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations as a flag, port and coastal state.
🔍 The following key topics were discussed during the visit:
- Overview of EU legislation and the mandate of IMO, the European Commission and EMSA;
- Application of the IMO Instrument Implementation Code;
- Practical training on carrying out inspections of cargo and passenger ships in the Port of Genoa, tests of fire protection systems, search and rescue operations and port state control procedures;
- Visiting the Port of Genoa and the Italian Navy Hydrographic Institute, as well as participating in joint practical training with the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre.
⚓️ Meetings were also arranged with the Admiral, Commander of the Italian Coast Guard, and the Deputy Harbor Master of the Port of Genoa with a view to considering common approaches to maritime safety.
