On 27 March 2026, another meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twinning Project “Institutional Support to the State Service for Maritime, Inland Waterway Transport and Shipping of Ukraine in the Implementation of the EU Acquis, Norms and Standards on Maritime Safety” was held.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Italian Coast Guard, Shipping Administration, Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, State Enterprise “Maritime Search and Rescue Service”, State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, as well as the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union.
The opening remarks were delivered by the Project Leader from the Italian side Captain Massimo Mosconi, who summarised the activities implemented under the Project during the reporting period.
Yurii Kononenko, Acting Head of the State Service for Maritime, Inland Waterway Transport and Shipping of Ukraine, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasising the importance of implementing the EU maritime legislation and standards to improve the competitiveness of the Ukrainian maritime sector, ensure the highest level of navigational safety, and strengthen the Ukraine’s status as a reliable maritime nation.
During the event, participants discussed interim results of the Project, approved the sixth quarterly report, and reached an agreement on further cooperation in enhancing the maritime safety standards.
