On 10 December 2025, employees of the Shipping Administration, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, the Maritime Search and Rescue Service as well as representatives of the seaports of Izmail, Reni, Ust-Dunaisk, Pivdennyi and Odesa took part in a training workshop for harbour masters.
The event was opened by Kasper Nielsen, Lead of EMEA and Seafarer Relations at MACN, who outlined the network's mission and global initiatives.
Organized by ANK Law Office as a local partner of MACN, the training workshop focused on the legal status, powers and functions of Ukrainian harbour masters.
In addition, maritime law experts elaborated on other legal aspects of the harbour masters’ activities:
- registering ships calling at Ukrainian seaports and permitting ships to leave seaports;
- detention of ships in accordance with Articles 80-81 and 91 of the Merchant Shipping Code of Ukraine;
- enforcement of court decisions on the arrest or release of ships.
