International interagency agreements

Опубліковано 17 September 2024 року, 15:29

Status of Legal Framework

In order to implement these obligations, the Shipping Administration concludes international agreements of Ukraine of an interagency nature to expand the employment opportunities for Ukrainian seafarers on foreign vessels.

Given the significant potential of Ukraine's maritime cluster to operate abroad, the Shipping Administration is in the process of intensifying cooperation with the States Parties to the STCW Convention by signing new and updating existing memoranda of understanding on the recognition of seafarers' diplomas/certificates.

Such interagency agreements simplify the procedure for confirming seafarers' qualifications and reduce the duration of their employment on flag state vessels.

In total, Ukraine has concluded 55 Memoranda of Understanding on the recognition of seafarers' diplomas/certificates, of which 24 are reciprocal.
