From now on, Australia and Ukraine undertake to mutually recognize the seafarers’ Certificates with a view to fulfilling obligations under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended.
Following the bilateral consultations, two inter-agency agreements were signed to facilitate the procedure for revalidating the seafarers’ qualification and accelerate the process of their employment on ships flying either the Australian or Ukrainian flag.
For reference: Ukraine has entered into 55 Memoranda of Understanding on recognition of seafarers’ Certificates by the Parties to the aforementioned STCW Convention, including 23 inter-agency agreements concluded on the basis of reciprocity.
